There is an extraordinary connection between the medicine and arts, exemplified by our talented medical community. The UBC Arts in Medicine Society (UBC AiM) is a club that works to create a space for the UBC Medical community to participate in the creation and enjoyment of all types of art. This includes theatre, music, dance, fine arts, and writing.
UBC Arts in Medicine puts on several well known annual events, including:
-Two coffeehouses, one for each term;
-Painting nights, held twice last year
-UBC Med Art Show
-The Art of Medicine art competition
In addition, AiM organizes book clubs, movie nights, and organized outings to local theatre, art, and musical events.
UBC AiM is a great way to meet like-minded colleagues and mentors. We have strong support from the practicing medical community. You don’t have to be an amazing artist to be part of our club! All you need is a keen interest in the arts or a desire to develop a greater appreciation for it; this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy balance during your time in medical school.
