(Disclaimer: this is not really health-related per say, but rather is more about writing and the process of finding and celebrating its utility in my own life.)
I want to dive dolphins without splash,
Fly with these unfeathered, unflighted arms,
Leap over great lakes and dead seas,
Challenge my shadow to double double, triple speed.
And find vastness in space, but removed from time.
Einstein – please don’t tell me this is impossible.
But finding such place – the hunt for a treasure,
Sometimes seem impossibly impossible,
Or rather impossibly possible, or possibly impossible?…
The reality of it all,
Is sometimes I get stuck and tangled and fixed.
Thoughts, behaviours feel bulky,
Instill cannon ball-like grace,
Weigh my gravitied limbs.
And shadows: they follow, mimic and mock.
A quiet possibility however leaps, I’m learning,
Bounds, and sometimes skips, when vastness
Is discovered on paper and in minds.
This writing, this creating,
Refocuses, reframes and refreshes time.
The possibilities – colours and textures are vast,
Verbs and adjectives: flow slowly, flow fast,
Collectively they fill voids, soothe souls,
Create a world without bounds,
Where stumblings and asides
Prefer to reside.
These words on these pages,
They soar and they swim,
Reinforce opposable thumbs and cerebral cortices,
Over sleek and feathered alternatives,
It’s freedom I seek, and freedom I find,
A freedom in kind,
And through these words.
